Vale Australian soprano Taryn Fiebig died at aged 49 years old. Taryn Fiebig has died following a long illness. The much-loved, highly esteemed Australian soprano, who performed frequently for Opera Australia and Pinchgut Opera. She was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2017 and she departed from a number of roles to undergo therapy before returning to the stage in 2018.

However, ovarian cancer returned and she passed away on 20 March 2021, aged 49. According to his family in a statement, she died at home in Elizabeth Bay, NSW with her husband Jud Arthur. Moreover, family members and friends by her side, surrounded by masses of soft pink roses.

Taryn Fiebig Death Reason

Taryn suffering from ovarian cancer and she was diagnosed in 2017 with cancer. She following his therapy, due to his treatments she departed from a number of roles. But she returned to the stage in 2018 and perform very well.

Sadly, she loses the battle with cancer and passed away on 20 March 2021 at the age of 49 years old. Her family and friends said she died at the home in Elizabeth Bay with her beloved husband Jud Arthur.

In a message sent to OA staff, Terracini said: “Taryn was an extremely talented artist and a wonderful human being. I saw her last week and was deeply moved by her grace and generosity as she faced her final curtain. We all loved Taryn and we admired her strength and joy for life.”

Andrew Ford tweeted: “So sad this morning to hear news of her death. She was a wonderful singer, but more than that a real musician and a proper star.”

Taryn Fiebig was an Australian opera and musical theatre soprano. She was born on 1 February 1972 in Perth. Fiebig originally graduated as a cellist from the School of Music, University of Western Australia. Before commencing vocal training, occasionally marrying the two on stage, with her cello accompanying her own singing.

Taryn joined the Young Artist Program at Opera Australia in 2004 and remained with the company as a principal soprano until becoming a freelance artist in 2010. She also played Eliza Doolittle in OA’s national tour of My Fair Lady opposite Richard E. Grant.

Fiebig was married to New Zealand-born baritone Jud Arthur in 2015. Actress Melissa George is her cousin.

As tributes flowed on Twitter, OA Artistic Director Lyndon Terracini said: “It is with great sadness to hear of Taryn Fiebig’s passing. Taryn was an extremely talented artist and a wonderful human being. She lived her life with such grace and generosity and was an inspiration to us. My condolences to Jud and family.”
